4 finalists named in Tolland town manager search


TOLLAND, CT — The city of Tolland has narrowed the search for the next city manager to four candidates, including a neighbor’s economic development coordinator and a former high-ranking cop with local ties.

City officials selected strategic Texas-based government resources to facilitate the search process. A total of 17 nominations from 10 States were received.

He has served as City Administrator for the City of Appleton, Minnesota since 2019. His previous public management service includes working as City Administrator for the City of Northfield, Massachusetts from 2017 to 2018, Shared City Administrator for the Cities of Monterey and Sandisfield , Massachusetts. from 2016 to 2017, and as a Municipal Management Intern at the City of Hudson, Iowa from 2013 to 2015. Willie holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Northern Iowa and is scheduled to receive a master’s degree in accounting from Merrimack College in May 2022. The City Council initially identified nine semi-finalists who completed detailed questionnaires and pre-recorded video interviews, from which the four finalists were selected to participate in upcoming interviews scheduled in Tolland on May 18 and 19.

The interview process will include candidates meeting with City Council members and senior staff for an informal welcome breakfast, followed by community tours and interview sessions with senior staff.

The public is invited to meet the finalists at a community meeting scheduled for May 18 from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. at the Tolland Library Community Room at 21 Tolland Green.

The Town Hall will audition each Finalist behind closed doors on May 19 and will deliberate on the final candidate to be retained for the position.
