Workshop to do (TBD Studio) harnesses the inherent goodness in people and the power of design to create lasting solutions to the pressing issues facing our world. We design and build spaces that elevate, inspire and sustain power within the communities they serve. We believe that a relevant design practice should be accessible to all rather than just a few.
TBD is currently looking for a Design Associate to work on architectural, urban and rural design projects. Our office is based in Washington, DC, and we work nationwide. This role will report to the Senior Architectural Designer.
Job Title: Design Associate
Location: Washington, D.C.
Start date: July 2022
Compensation: $50,000 to $60,000
Main purpose and function:
Founded by award-winning architect Omar Hakeem in 2020, the To Be Done studio works to create lasting and impactful solutions to the multifaceted issues facing many communities across our country, we work upstream and downstream from the challenges. We source and engage local and thematic experts to ensure we are well informed before designing. We design robust solutions that consider social, environmental and climate change sustainability. Sometimes we see the work through to completion and do the building/manufacturing ourselves.
The architectural designer will:

Support for all phases of the design process

Support and lead community engagement efforts

Assist in the development of production design and construction documents

Support modeling and manufacturing efforts.

Qualifications:
-
Master in Architecture
-
0-2 years of practical experience – project management, design, documentation and construction administration

Excellent visual communication and graphic design skills

Proficiency in Archicad (preferred), Revit and Adobe Creative Suite
-
Detail-oriented with exceptional verbal and written communication skills that include phenomenal follow-up and documentation
Commitment:
This position is full time (40h/week). Travel for site visits will be required. Our office operates on a hybrid work model, but reserves the right to request in-person employment.
