Congress on Thursday dismissed the report prepared by the IndiGo Airlines executive as falsified and said it did not represent a true and fair view.
The report by the IndiGo Thiruvananthapuram airport manager was linked to an incident that occurred on Monday, when his flight arriving here from Kannur witnessed chants from three Youth Congress workers against the minister Chief Pinarayi Vijayan, who was on the flight.
Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Thursday called Varun Dwivedi, the airline’s associate vice president and expressed his displeasure.
Upon hearing the complaint, the senior official asked Satheesan to file a complaint in writing.
Satheesan’s letter says: “This is in response to our conversation on the report submitted to the Station House Officer, Valiyathura Police Station, Thiruvananthapuram by the Indigo Airport Manager regarding the so-called protest against the Chief Minister. According to information available in the public domain, the report given by Indigo Airport Manager to SHO, Valiyathura PS is false, frivolous and ostentatious,”
His letter further states: “Furthermore, the details of the report contrast sharply with statements made by other passengers, including LDF official EP Jayarajan (a senior CPI-M leader and former Minister of State Industries ) who witnessed the incident.
“Jayarajan, who accompanied Vijayan on the flight, said in an interview given to a prominent TV station that the two Youth Congress workers shouted slogans against him demanding his resignation after Vijayan walked out of the job. ‘plane.
“In addition to this, CPI-M Secretary of State Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stated categorically that the incident happened after Vijayan left the plane.
“However, the report given by the Indigo airport manager allegedly alleged that the protesters attacked the Chief Minister. Furthermore, the report fails to mention the name of Jayarajan who brutally manhandled the protesters, who was aired on all TV news channels with clear video coverage.”
“The submitted report indicates that a ‘man accompanying the CM would have repelled the two’.
“Jayarajan, who is the LDF organizer and former state minister, is a well-known state figure. Omitting his name from the report in itself raises serious doubts about the probity of the officer who we learn that he is from Kannur and did so under political pressure and influence from senior police officials, CPI-M leaders and the office of the chief minister.
“Therefore, I request you to conduct a fair investigation into this matter and submit a truthful report to the investigative agencies and the Director General of Civil Aviation,” Satheesan wrote in the letter.
There were three Youth Congressmen on board the plane and of them, two are currently in pre-trial detention, while the third person is still in hiding.
One of the protesters, who is a teacher at a public school in Jayarajan’s hometown, was suspended from his job by the school management.
