The general manager position was recently added by coach Mike Norvell as he works to revamp and organize the scouting and operations support staff. Yray has previous experience in scouting operations, player personnel and as an operations manager.

From his profile at Oregon State:

Darrick Yray (pronounced Ray) is the program’s Director of Player Personnel. Previously, he held positions at OSU, including Director of Recruiting and Professional Liaison Operations, Assistant Director of Player Personnel, and Campus Recruiting Coordinator.

Yray is responsible for managing all aspects of Oregon State’s recruiting operations, including the process of identifying potential student-athletes and scheduling official and unofficial campus visits. He also serves as a Pro Liaison.

Yray came to Corvallis after spending three seasons at Fresno State as assistant manager of football operations. While with the Bulldogs, he assisted with recruiting, team travel, player personnel, served as a professional liaison, and other duties in day-to-day football and recruiting operations.

He spent 2008-2011 as an offensive assistant under the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In these roles, he helped prepare scouting reports, efficiency and trend charts, film distribution, assisted with academics, and coordinated scouting teams.

In 2010, Yray was a guest coach with the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders franchise, working with special teams and the defensive line.

A native of Linden, Calif., Yray graduated from Fresno State in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He received his Masters in Kinesiology in 2013. Yray married Minda McCullough in July 2014.

The news comes alongside the announcement of the hiring of Justin Crouse in a recruitment support staff role yet to be determined, and former chief of staff Bruce Warwick promoted to AD associate for football earlier this week. .
