Designer Ali Cotton launches into menswear


Fashion designer Ali Cotton joined Men’s Health Australia as Associate Creative Director

Cotton will work closely with editor-in-chief Scott Henderson, creative director Jason Lee and the existing editorial team, with the style shoot of the July issue “Leading Man” his first project.

“Men’s Health is a legacy publication, so when the opportunity arose to contribute creatively to the magazine, I couldn’t say no,” she said.

“I’m excited to work alongside editor Scott Henderson, who I’m personally a huge fan of, to bring a modern aesthetic with a focus on curating covers, features and style pages, so that we , as a team, let’s continue to propel the magazine forward.”

For her first production assignment of the style shoot, Cotton said she was looking to reinvent traditional costume.

“This shoot was meant to push men’s suits and take men out of their comfort zone, and ultimately introduce a new vibe to the magazine’s style pages that the modern, everyday man can aspire to when it comes to style.

“Coming from a fashion background, my goal is to bring a more progressive approach to the way men think about style.

Even the best brands in the world need updating every few years, Cotton said.

“It is my intention to bring a fresh look and ideas to Men’s health.

“The team and I have a clear vision for how the magazine can evolve both aesthetically and content-wise as we continue to be at the forefront of health and lifestyle. men.

“We’re truly passionate about engaging with our readers in smart, modern ways as we head into 2023 and beyond.”

Cotton will continue to work on Men’s Health Style, features, commercial projects and upcoming cover collaborations.

Cotton is a brand and creative repertoire consultant, originally from Perth and has spent the past 10 years in Sydney.

She cut her teeth in the fashion industry as a designer, creative director and business owner and was immersed in the creative space for 15 years.

Launched in 2013, its First Base brand is sold in more than 15 countries and 100 stores worldwide.
