Dental hygienist, a job that typically only requires an associate’s degree to enter, is expected to see job growth of 19,000 between 2021 and 2031, according to employment projection data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

With a median annual salary at $77,810, this job also pays above the median annual salary for all jobs in the United States, which is $45,760.

Unlike dentists or orthodontists – who are actually expected to see smaller job increases from 2021 to 2031 compared to dental hygienists – a dental hygienist generally does not need a doctorate or professional degree for the entrance. They usually only need an associate degree.
