EASTON, Md. — Creator of the Year, presented by Decorate the interiors of the denwas awarded to the franchisee Monique Holland from Washington D.C. This was the company’s 38th International Dream Room Awards, held during the company’s annual Designcon 2022 conference in Myrtle Beach, SC

Holland’s modern, industrial dining room design with bold wall coverings was rated best-in-class and best-of-300 entries in 10 categories by interior design journalists across the United States and the United States. Canada. She also had Home Office in first place, Family Room in second place, and won three other separate judging contest categories.

“I’m thrilled to win this honor, especially since this was my first time stepping into the Dream Room,” Holland said. “I started my business only four years ago. Being Designer of the Year and winning so many other awards is very exciting.

The Franchise Sisters Barbara Elliott and Jennifer Ward Woods and their design team from Stone Mountain, Georgia were the first finalists. They won first place in the bedroom, kitchen and exterior, and second place in the living room and exterior, as well as third in the bathroom. Their family room also took second place among the winners in each room category.

The second runner-up was Lynne Lawson of Columbia, Maryland, with design associate Laura Outland, whose bathroom took third place among the top-ranked rooms. Additionally, they won third place in the chamber and first place in another judging.

Other design awards include:

  • The Donayre prize, awarded by the company’s franchisees, was won by Lisa Bibawi of Dallas for its first place in the salon. Elliott and Woods took second place for their family room and Holland took third place for their winning dining room.
  • The People’s Choice Award, an online jury open to the public, was won by Lawson and Outland for their bathroom design. Holland won second place for their home office and Elliott and Woods won third for their kitchen.
  • The Patti Award is given to early contest entries and is judged by franchisees who have achieved Decorating Den Certified Decorator status. The winner of this award was Holland for his dining room. Michelle Jett of La Verne, Calif., won second place for her family room and third for her room.
