HCC Constitution Day Associate Speaker

North Carolina Supreme Court Associate Justice Michael Morgan will be the guest speaker at Halifax Community College’s Constitution Day celebration.
The program will take place Friday at 10 a.m. at the Griffin Center on the college campus.
In 2004, Congress mandated that schools, colleges, and universities receiving federal funding must teach on Constitution Day.
Constitution Day is observed nationwide on September 17 to commemorate the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787.
Morgan graduated from the New Bern public school system at age 16 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in history and sociology from Duke University.
After graduating, he received his JD from Central North Carolina University School of Law.
In November 2016, Morgan won his first statewide election to become Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Prior to becoming a State Supreme Court Justice, he worked on the legal staff of the North Carolina Department of Justice as a research assistant, associate attorney general, and assistant attorney general.
He also served as an administrative law judge with the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings, a Wake County District Court Judge, and a Wake County Superior Court Judge.
