Alexis Rowlinson to the company’s leadership team
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~ January 15, 2022 (LSNews) The Magnus Theater Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexis Rowlinson to the management team as Managing Director responsible for day-to-day operations and strategic planning.
Rowlinson is an enthusiastic arts administrator who has worked in some of Canada’s most celebrated theater companies, including the Stratford Festival, the Shaw Festival Theater in Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Grand Theater in London, Ontario.
As Chief Executive, Rowlinson will work alongside Artistic Director Thom Currie to encourage the highest level of artistic creation and administrative excellence within the organization.
“Alexis has a strong background in client services and fund development, bolstered by years of experience with several major theater companies,” said Magnus Theater Board Chairman Warren Mouck.
“In addition to her exceptional leadership skills and innate passion for the theater arts, she also knows this city and understands the community here. The Board is confident that this new appointment is an excellent choice to move the Magnus Theater forward into the future.
Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Rowlinson left home after graduating from high school to earn her Bachelor of Arts Honors in English Literature from Western University. She then worked at the Stratford Festival for six seasons, holding various positions within the company, including Associate House Manager. She also holds a Master of Arts in Leadership from Queen’s University, an accreditation she earned while working full-time in the theater industry. This new leadership opportunity at the Magnus Theater now presents an ideal fit, and Rowlinson is grateful to be able to take on the role of Executive Director of the theater company that helped inspire her love of the arts.
“After working at so many great institutions, I’m very happy to be back in this more regional and community-based organization,” says Rowlinson.
“I’ve always been a huge fan of the work done here at the Magnus Theatre. It’s a great space, a unique space, and it’s a mainstay of the Northwestern Ontario cultural scene. I’m excited and optimistic about its potential for growth, and I look forward to connecting with the community and helping expand Magnus Theater’s reach even further.
