TRUMBULL COUNTY, Ohio — A 17-year-old college student from Ohio is making headlines after earning her associate’s degree from college days before graduating from high school.

According WLWT, Abbie Campana recently earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. The teenager, who started taking college classes when she was a sophomore at Lakeview High School, said she started attending Youngstown full-time during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the state College Credit Plus dual-enrollment program, his college courses doubled in high school credits, WFMJ reported.
Campana completed 80 college credit hours in May, graduating with a 4.0 grade point average, according to media reports. Shortly after, she graduated from high school, where she was named valedictorian, WLWT reported.
Officials said Campana was the first student at local Lakeview schools to graduate with an associate’s degree in the same year as a high school diploma, according to WLWT.
“I’m a student who will always strive to push myself and achieve the goals I set for myself,” said Campana, who will be heading to Bowling Green State University this fall. WFMJ.
She plans to study supply chain management and hopes to get her bachelor’s degree in three semesters, WFMJ reported.
