Stayton hires new city manager

Stayton hired Julia Hajduk as City Manager.

Hajduk is Sherwood’s director of community development and served as that town’s director of planning.

She has worked as an associate planner for Tigard, a planner in Springfield, and economic development assistant for the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments.

Hadjuk holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Western Oregon University.

Other finalists for the job were Dalles Human Resources Manager Daniel Hunter and Yakima Town Deputy Manager Matthew Selby.

Keith Campbell resigned as City Manager of Stayton in September after eight years to hold the same position for Sherwood.

Deputy City Manager Alissa Angelo served as the Acting City Manager.

Hajduk will take office on June 15 and his contract runs until June 30, 2024.

His contract calls for an annual salary of $142,250. She will receive 56 hours of administrative leave each year, plus the city will pay $1,500 for professional growth and development and pay $3,500 in relocation expenses.

The average salary for a city manager in Oregon is $126,300, according to a survey conducted by the League of Oregon Cities. The average for towns comparable in size to Stayton, such as Independence, Monmouth and Silverton, is $137,540.
